Designing with community is at the heart of the Avenue Trade School vision. Since the Fall of 2025, we have invited prospective students, neurodivergent adults, families, neighbors, and partners into the planning process through our November 25, 2025 online community workshop and an ongoing web-based survey. Over the past year, we also leveraged our involvement in several other community events to grow awareness of our initiative. These tools and ways of connecting give people multiple ways to share what trades and skills matter most, what kinds of sensory aware spaces feel supportive, and what community amenities are most needed on the Westside. This first phase of engagement is shaping both the campus concept and our future advisory structure, and it will continue as the project moves through design, approvals, and implementation.
